I sometimes run across links or videos on yoga performances, usually choreographed and acrobatic, such as that performed by Tripsichore. So, Tomasz Gudzowaty's photoessay on yoga performers was not at all what I was expecting from the title. Taken in India during the Kumbh Mela Hindu feast, his black and white photographs have a serene, ethereal quality to then that I find completely absorbing.
Have a look. The only thing that really has me wondering is the picture of the yogi with the staff. That can't be physically possible, surely?
I've read that this is a very old trick. The rod will be steel or have steel hidden in it and there is a seat attached that is hidden beneath the person's clothing. The rod is somehow stabilized on the ground.
One version unveiled is here.

There is skill in the balance required to maintain that seat for an extended period.
