It was the end of a long day and I really longed to do a yoga practice. I grabbed this unopened DVD in search of a satisfying practice that wouldn’t wipe me out. This practice delivered and I finished feeling refreshed.
The practice consists of three sections: a morning practice which starts slow but ends with energy, an energetic afternoon practice and gentle evening practice. Each practice is really only 20 minutes (a pet peeve of mine is when they say it’s 20 minutes on the packaging and it’s not). There are some poses repeated but each practice is truly a fresh unique practice.
I favor an alignment oriented practice and this DVD I would classify as more alignment oriented versus vinyasa. I thought the poses were taught with a balance of technical details and heart. I think there could have been more alignment instructions but I think the general public doesn’t want that.
My only complaint about this DVD – no guided savasana! However, what I did is let the DVD go back to the title page which has some relaxing music.
I would recommend this DVD to beginner and intermediate yoga practitioners or anyone who wants a refreshing 1 hour practice. I also would strongly recommend this for anyone who wants to squeeze yoga into an already full day – 20 minute segments are almost always doable!
Disclaimer: Yoga Journal did provide me with a free copy of this DVD for review.
